Boosting Bifacial PV Performance with Reflective FireBlock Membranes
Boosting Bifacial PV Performance with Reflective FireBlock Membranes
Bifacial solar panels are designed to capture sunlight from both sides but to truly maximize their potential, the surface beneath them matters. That’s where the Bridgehill FireBlock membrane makes a difference.
FireBlock is a fire-rated underlayment engineered for installation beneath rooftop solar PV systems. It features a dual-surface design, offering both a dark and a white reflective side. When the white surface is installed facing up, it reflects more sunlight onto the rear side of bifacial panels, significantly increasing rear-side irradiance and total energy yield.
Field tests in Northern Europe show an energy gain of up to 8% when using reflective membranes under bifacial modules. This boost comes without changing system height or layout making it a low-impact, high-return upgrade for both new builds and retrofits.
The result? Better performance, improved fire safety, and a smarter use of every ray of light.
