Bridgehill Thermal Runaway

You are about to see how a thermal runaway in an electric vehicle may develop.
Thermal runaway begins when the heat generated within a lithium-ion battery exceeds the amount of the heat that is dissipated to its surroundings. This can happen due to overcharging, physical damage on the battery cell, short circuit or because of high temperatures. If the cause of excessive heat creation is not remedied, the condition will worsen.
In this video you will see that the fire is spreading from one cell to the neighboring cells - this is known as thermal propagation. Thermal propagation is a sequential occurrence of thermal runaway within one single lithium-ion battery, this is triggered by thermal runaway of a cell in that battery module.
